A massive sporting event is always a challenge of logistics, production and human resources. If we add the complexity of managing more than 1.000 participants, without counting spectators and companions, and that is a cycling tour that takes place on the road, it is much more difficult.
The VII Marcha Alberto Contador, which was held in Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort for the second consecutive edition, has been a challenge that was successfully managed by all those involved. Staff members of the Marcha and Oliva Nova have worked side by side many months before to carry out the pre and post-race tasks. Accurate and effective coordination that was also demonstrated during the three days of the event. Days in which the Resort was the seat of numerous parallel activities in order to become the stage for the development of one of the most important cycling tours in Spain on Saturday, September 29 .
The different spaces and halls of the Hotel Oliva Nova hosted activities related to the Gran Fondo: technical presentations, delivery of numbers, talks with the champion Alberto Contador and EXPO for the runners. Everything organised to warm up the engines for the big day of the race whose exit and finish was located inside the Resort.
This year, the Marcha Alberto Contador provide a distance of 167 kilometers around Oliva Nova and 3.114 meters of positive height difference. The format of the Marcha is about a cyclo-sporting test, so the participants could enjoy a closed tour to vehicle traffic, in which coordination with the authorities was essential.
Some assembly elements were arranged specifically for the race, such as a rigid arch, inflatable arches, security fences, sound, refreshments, bicycle parking, physio zone and a large 108m2 tent for the exhibition area. All the complexity of the essential elements at the sports level.
Without a doubt, the Marcha Alberto Contador has supposed a huge sporting and leisure event in which Oliva Nova shows all its big potential and for the second consecutive yea. A great triumph for the organization that is working already in the 2019 edition.
