Symbiosis of craftsmanship and innovation from the Marina Alta
The company Point Mobles, originally from Gata de Gorgos, has in its catalogue collections designed by creators of the prestige of Gabriel Teixidó, Mario Ruiz, Vicent Martínez or Christophe Pillet.
Point Mobles, a company that has been awarded the National Design Award, has made rattan fibre an iconic material in furniture design. A modest workshop in the town of Gata de Gorgos was the origin, in 1920, of Point Mobles, which today has become an international reference in outdoor furniture.
Founded by José Pons Pedro, today it is represented by the third and fourth generation of the Pons family, responsible for sustaining and expanding a firm that has made working with rattan fibre its hallmark. When it comes to outdoor furniture, their philosophy cannot be dissociated from the wickerwork, a traditional craft in the Marina Alta region.
The 1950s, under the direction of Juan Bautista Pons, were key to the internationalisation of the brand, which today has projects in more than seventy countries. The combination of innovation, sustainability and respect for tradition has made it possible for Point Mobles to overcome different economic crises and to establish itself as one of the leading firms in outdoor furniture on a national and international scale, a trajectory that earned it the National Design Award in 2019.
Point Mobles’ furniture catalogue stands out for the careful selection of designers who have collaborated with the firm. In the company’s current showroom, located in the town of Xaló, visitors can review projects by national references signed by Gabriel Teixidó, Mario Ruiz or Vicent Martínez, as well as collections by prestigious international designers, such as Christophe Pillet.
