The anniversary tournament of the Oliva Nova golf course has become one of the most awaited events for lovers of this sport that combines practice with enjoyment of the environment.
The bet on golf
In 1995, the founder of Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort, Siegfried Borho, counted on the experience and professionalism of one of the most important golfers in history to build in his facilities the benchmark course of the Costa Blanca. Thus, Severiano Ballesteros, holder of one of the best track records in the history of golf, designed a high-level course composed of nine holes, gently undulating greens and water hazards that would determine the strategy of the game.
It was a spectacular commitment for the time, which turned it into one of the main attractions of sports tourism on the Mediterranean coast. Two years later, the club expanded the facilities and added nine more holes to the course. With this investment, the Oliva Nova golf course became an 18-hole professional course, ready to face competitions of the highest level.
Since then, and on the occasion of that inauguration, a tournament is held every year -this year on August 5 and 6- to commemorate that moment. Both members and subscribers can enjoy the facilities to the full.
Currently, Oliva Nova has one of the leading golf courses in Spain. It has a privileged location next to the Mediterranean Sea, with a completely modernized infrastructure of some 50 hectares, a Club House, a roofed driving range and residential developments that surround it and make it a facility that attracts thousands of golfers every season.
